Sustainable Groove is a Beat Detective event with proceeds to benefit NextAid.
Nextaid presents with partners at the XVI International AIDS Conference in Toronto, Aug 13-18 From August 13-18 Toronto will be hosting the XVI International AIDS Conference, bringing together the world's leading scientists, researchers, health care providers, and activists on the issues of HIV/AIDS. One organization giving a presention at the conference is NextAid, a Los Angeles based non-profit organization dedicated to creating sustainable solutions for African children orphaned as a result of AIDS. All proceeds from this event will go to NextAid.
NextAid's current major project is a multi-purpose child support center, in partnership with a South African non-profit group. Intended to showcase green building design, the earth-friendly sustainable center in Dennilton, South Africa (2 hours outside Johannesburg) will be a model for other centres throughout Africa. The centre will be a place where resources can be concentrated, where aid can be efficiently distributed, where environmental education will be emphasized, and where young people will have the chance to explore their individual and collective potential.
